The role

Two Library Assistant roles based at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. 

In your answer to the first question on the application form please tell us which role(s) you are applying for. 

1x Central Saint Martins Library Assistant, 35 hours (1 FTE) 

Term-time working hours are Monday – Friday 10:00 – 18:00. 

During vacation, working hours are Mon-Fri 10:15-18:15 

1 x Central Saint Martins Library Assistant 22 hours (0.63 FTE) 

Term time working hours are Tuesday 09:00-17:00, Wednesday 8:30 –17:30 and Thursday 09:00-17:00  

During vacation working hours will be from Tuesday 09:00 - 17:00, Wednesday 9:15 –18:15 and Thursday 09:00-17:00.  

You will assist in the delivery of high-quality customer-focused library and open access IT services, participating in front-line services and administrative duties. You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK. This includes helping with the use of Library materials, dealing with account queries, as well as supporting students with general purpose software. You will assist with the production of promotional and instructional guides to encourage students’ independent learning.  

You will also keep the space in good order, for example through regular tidying and shelving, in accordance with best health and safety practice and security guidelines. You will also provide support for self-issue systems and IT.

Your Profile

You will have relevant experience in a library or customer service environment, and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will have experience of working as a member of a team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed. You will also be able to work independently and have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate.
