The role

The Associate Lecturer in 3D Computer Animation is responsible for designing and teaching units such as 3D Computer Animation Fundamentals and Advanced and Experimental 3D Computer Animation Techniques. We are seeking practitioners who have a diverse range of skills, preferably with an emphasis on Maya and other 3D software. You will be working collaboratively within a team, helping the course leader to develop the curriculum in innovative directions.

Your main responsibilities will be preparation of course material, teaching, administration and assessment of a unit or part of a unit. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and support our students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully.

Relevant knowledge, skills and software expertise includes, but is not limited to:

· Comprehensive knowledge of 3D software and its application including but not limited to Maya, Substance Painter, 3D Equalizer, Motion Builder

· Storyboarding, contemporary narrative form and structure in animation film language

· 3D Animation principles, animation fundamentals & advanced techniques (lighting, texturing, rendering, rigging and compositing)

· Concept design (Ideas, sketches to realisation)

· Character design & animation (including modelling, skinning, and rigging), experimental animation techniques,

· Motion capture (working with Mocap data)

· Good knowledge of Realtime animation rendering

· Match moving, performance

· Experimental animation practice

· Animation Principles

Additional skills include:

· Adobe Creative Suite

· Cinema4D, Houdini, Blender and Nuke

You will work closely with other academic staff, including the Programme Director and Course Leader.
